Prime Group (Nottingham, U.K.) was founded 25 years ago as traditional offset printer. It has since evolved into a provider of value-added items such as personalised products and cross-media marketing services. The company’s mantra is innovation. Eight years ago, Prime Group invested in digital printing and initiated moves to transform itself from a producer of commodity offset print products to a provider of differentiated high-value services.

According to Prime Group Managing Director Jon Tolley, “We had no real niche when we first started out; we were a general commercial printer. We recognised that digital printing offered the potential to get us out the commodity four-colour print market. We aimed to become experts in variable data printing, and today we are one of the U.K.'s leading providers of personalised items, including calendars, stationery, direct mail, books, brochures, and gifts.”

Prime Group employs 35 people, generates annual revenues of ?3.4 million pounds (up 24% from the previous year), and anticipates 20% year-over-year growth moving forward.
