One of the key issues for all retailers is how to get more traffic to their store or restaurant. The thinking is that if you can get the customer to the store then they’ll buy. 2011 has seen an increase in direct mail from retailers and a very popular strategy is to include coupon cards in the mailing, providing a nice incentive for shoppers to come into the store.

Well, one very clever restaurant franchise mailed 5,000 postcards with coupons and got over 14,000 responses. How is that possible? They used social media to leverage their direct mail piece and drive additional response.
