Fujifilm Digital Disruption: A Force to Be Reckoned With?

Last year, Fujifilm highlighted their post FujiXerox rebirth with wide range of new product previews and introductions targeting different market applications. While not everything previewed at drupa or PRINTING United is ready for shipment, some key market leading products and technologies were deemed ready for shipment at the Digital Disruption Event. Since the FujiXerox relationship dissolved, Fujifilm has been running fast and developing products faster. Their booths at drupa and the last PRINTING United was an indication of the expanse of their intention. As is the normal at drupa, new introductions are a given, but usually they are spread across multiple exhibitors. During last year’s drupa, Fujifilm took that to an extreme with a wide range of new product previews and introductions targeting different markets and applications.

While many of them were just introductions and not releases, this month, Fujifilm held a “Digital Disruption Reveal” event at their Graphics Innovation Hub in Hanover Park, Ill., (outside of Chicago) where they announced some products ready for shipment. They also seemed to put a stake in the ground identifying themselves as a forced to be reckoned with.

Fujifilm’s Revoria line of color toner presses has now expanded beyond the established flagship Revoria Press PC1120 six-color digital press. In addition to CMYK EA-Eco Toner with VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) imaging, the PC1120 supports up to two additional specialty toners, at resolution of 2400 dpi. The variety of specialty toners available include Clear, Pink, Gold, Silver, and White. This can provide not only one of the largest printable gamuts, but also embellishment. At speeds up to 120 ppm, it supports media up to 400 gsm, with a wide range of feeding and finishing options up to a maximum banner size of 330 x 1200 mm.

Labels and the Connected Supply Chain

You can think of this very competitive connected supply chain landscape in four layers: material suppliers, label converters/printers, hardware OEMs, and software/platform players. The good news is that, as a converter, after you decide where you would like to start, there are so many options for you to select from. Read More

Direct-to-Object: Challenging Labels and Tags or Offering New Opportunities?

Print is a very adaptive technology and direct-to-object (DTO) is another area where it can offer new opportunities for PSPs and product manufacturers. However, it can and will be challenged by inline DTO printing solutions, offering new opportunities. Read More
