What can’t be measured can’t be managed. This is particularly true when it comes to printing in color on an offset press. Lithec (Hall 16 / F13) has solutions for bringing precision color measurement and control to offset presses of all types, including older equipment.

In working display at the Lithec stand is LithoFlash Inline, a densitometric measuring system that the company says can be retrofitted to all sheetfed and web offset presses in printing widths from 20 to 80-in. The equipment consists of a stationary inspection module installed after the last printing station; and a control unit with a computer and a 24″ touchscreen interface. Using energy-saving LED flash lighting, LithoFlash Inline continuously monitors control strips for color density, dot gain, print contrast, and trapping in jobs with process and specialty inks. 

LithoFlash Inline also generates quality reports that display running data for every sheet in the job. Lithec says printers can use these reports to assure their customers that printing is stable and that results are consistent. Optional functions include support for ink key presetting; networking to prepress; register measurement; and data export to production software. 

Lithec also offers the LithoScan series of offline console systems for post-print sheet inspection. New at drupa is LithoScan SIP, which uses spectral measurement to record L*a*b values and grey balance as well as ink density. LithoScan SIP can perform sheet-to-sheet and sheet-to-PDF comparisons. The system also has a beaming feature that projects lighted indications onto areas of the sheet where problems may be occurring.

Lithec says that it has made 300 installations of LithoFlash Inline and 2,000 placements of LithoScan systems worldwide. Legacy LithoScan consoles can be upgraded to IP and SIP configurations. The company also provides software for linking data collected by the systems to control systems in the press.

Auf dem Stand von Lithec ist das densitometrische Inline-Messsystem LithoFlash zu sehen, das dem Unternehmen zufolge an allen Bogen- und Rollenoffset-Druckmaschinen in Druckbreiten von 20″ bis 80″ nachgerüstet werden kann. Die Anlage besteht aus einem stationären Prüfmodul, das hinter der letzten Druckstation installiert wird, und einer Steuereinheit mit einem Computer und einem 24″-Touchscreen. Mit energiesparenden LED-Blitzen überwacht LithoFlash Inline Kontrollstreifen kontinuierlich auf Farbdichte, Tonwertzunahme, Druckkontrast und Farbannahme bei Aufträgen mit Prozess- und Spezialfarben.

LithoFlash Inline erstellt zudem Qualitätsreports, die laufend Daten für jeden Bogen im Auftrag anzeigen. Laut Lithec können Druckereien mit diesen Reports für ihre Kunden nachweisen, dass der Druck stabil ist und die Ergebnisse konsistent sind. Zu optionalen Funktionen gehören Unterstützung für Farbzonenvoreinstellung, Vernetzung mit der Druckvorstufe, Registermessung und Datenexport zur Produktionssoftware. 

Lithec bietet ferner Offline-Konsolensysteme aus der Serie LithoScan zur Bogeninspektion nach dem Druck an. Neu auf der drupa ist LithoScan SIP, das mittels Spektralmessung L*a*b-Werte und Graubalance sowie Farbdichte erfasst. LithoScan SIP kann Vergleiche von Bogen mit Bogen und Bogen mit PDF durchführen. Das System verfügt außerdem über eine Funktion, die Leuchtmarkierungen auf möglicherweise problematische Bereiche des Bogens projiziert.

Lithec hat nach eigenen Angaben weltweit 300 Installationen von LithoFlash Inline und 2000 Installationen von LithoScan Systemen durchgeführt. Ältere LithoScan-Konsolen lassen sich zu IP- und SIP-Konfigurationen aufrüsten. Das Unternehmen bietet ferner Software für die Kopplung der von den Systemen erfassten Daten mit Steuerungssystemen der Druckmaschinen an.
