Posters, wallpaper, banners, photo prints...there are many ways to decorate walls with prints. But there is also the option of printing directly onto the wall. WallPen offers the Evolution 2, the third generation of wall printers.

WallPen is based in Wissen, Germany, where it also manufactures the printers and software. The company was founded in 2015 after several attempts with printers imported from China failed.

The printing system consists of rails that are laid on the floor, a movable axis system for height, printheads, and electronics. The components are precision-manufactured to ensure high print quality and can be easily assembled and disassembled. The images are printed with LED UV inks in process color; a fifth color such as white is optional. The printheads use Ricoh Gen 5 technology and offer a maximum resolution of 1,200 dpi. The print speed is 2 to 16 sq. m/hr. With extension kits, a print height of up to 3.5m can be achieved, while the print width is virtually unlimited. All surfaces can be printed on, and a primer is only required for very smooth surfaces such as glass.

The Evolution 2 costs around €50,000, depending on the configuration. Process color inks are included for the first two years of use, only white ink, if required, must be purchased separately. The printer is available in Germany directly from WallPen and in other countries via sales partners, although partners are still being sought in some countries. Mit WallPen Wände bedrucken

Poster, Tapeten, Banner, Fotodrucke, … es gibt viele Möglichkeiten Wände mit Drucken zu verzieren. Es gibt aber auch die Möglichkeit, die Wand direkt zu bedrucken. Die Firma WallPen bietet dafür den Evolution 2 an und damit bereits die dritte Generation an Wanddruckern.

WallPen hat seinen Firmensitz in Wissen, in Deutschland und fertigt dort auch die Drucker, inklusive Software. Gegründet wurde die Firma 2015, nachdem mehrere Versuche mit aus China importierten Druckern gescheitert sind.

Das Drucksysteme besteht aus Schienen, die auf dem Boden verlegt werden, einem beweglichen Achsensystem für die Höhe, Druckköpfen und Elektronik. Die Bauteile sind präzisionsgefertigt um eine hohe Druckqualität zu ermöglichen und können einfach montiert und demontiert werden. Die Bilder werden mit LED UV-Tinten in Prozessfarbe gedruckt, eine fünfte Farbe wie weiß ist optional. Die Druckköpfe nutzen Ricoh Gen 5 Technik und bieten eine maximale Auflösung von 1,200 dpi. Die Druckgeschwindigkeit beträgt 2 bis 16 m² pro Stunde. Mit Ausbausets ist eine Druckhöhe bis zu 3.5 Metern erreichbar, während die Druckbreite nahezu unbegrenzt ist. Alle Oberflächen können bedruckt werden, nur für sehr glatte Oberflächen wie Glas wird ein Primer benötigt.

Der Evolution 2 kostet je nach Ausstattung etwa 50.000 Euro. Tinte in Prozessfarben sind für die ersten zwei Jahr Nutzung eingeschlossen, nur weiße Tinte muss, falls benötigt, extra eingekauft werden. Der Drucker ist in Deutschland von WallPen direkt und in anderen Ländern über Vertriebspartner erhältlich – es werden allerdings noch Partner in einigen Ländern gesucht.
