Widely anticipated was the Pro Z75, nicknamed “the dragon,” Ricoh’s foray into sheetfed inkjet printing. Although it was announced in 2021, drupa is the first opportunity to see the press live in action publicly. The Pro Z75 is a B2 press with a maximum sheet size of 585 x 750mm. It offers print speeds of up to 4,500 B2 sheets per hour in straight printing or 2,250 sheets in duplex printing on paper up to 400 gsm. Ricoh’s own stainless steel piezo printheads achieve a 1,200 x 1,200 dpi resolution at all speeds in four-colour imaging. The printing unit has even space to add more colors in future versions of the press. Supported is uncoated and standard coated paper—for advanced paper requirements an optional primer will be available soon. The Z75 uses highly pigmented water-based inks, very similar to the inks used on the new Pro VC80000.

Two customers are running the Z75 in Europe already, both with totally different backgrounds: Realisaprint.com is an online printer based in Southern France with a wide range of commercial print applications, while Dutch personalized gift specialist YourSurprise is mainly printing packs on heavy stocks. A third European installation will follow soon. The press is now fully released and more installations are expected for 2024. There are some impressive print samples available. The coated prints from the Z75 are finished at the Tecnau booth nearby: trimmed to size and with a UV varnish from a Kompac 20 coating system.

Ricoh recently revamped its toner production printing portfolio as well, with the Ricoh Pro C7500 and Pro C 9500. The new toner flagship press, the Pro C9500, sports an upgraded front-end, easier operation, and better scheduling of maintenance tasks. Taking advantage of a new, flatter paper path, a new heavy media kit will be launched soon allowing cardboard up to 800µ in thickness.

Ricoh expandiert im kommerziellen Druck

Mit Spannung erwartet wurde die Pro Z75 mit dem Spitznamen „der Drache“, Ricohs Vorstoß in den Inkjet-Bogendruck. Obwohl sie bereits 2021 angekündigt wurde, ist die drupa die erste Gelegenheit, die Druckmaschine live in Aktion zu sehen. Die Pro Z75 ist eine B2-Druckmaschine mit einer maximalen Bogengröße von 585 x 750 mm. Sie bietet Druckgeschwindigkeiten von bis zu 4.500 B2-Bögen pro Stunde im Geradeausdruck oder 2.250 Bögen im Duplexdruck auf Papier bis zu 400 g/m². Die Ricoh-eigenen Piezo-Druckköpfe aus Edelstahl erreichen bei allen Geschwindigkeiten im Vierfarbdruck eine Auflösung von 1.200 x 1.200 dpi. Das Druckwerk bietet sogar Platz, um in zukünftigen Versionen der Maschine weitere Farben hinzuzufügen. Unterstützt werden ungestrichenes und standardmäßig gestrichenes Papier - für anspruchsvollere Papieranforderungen wird in Kürze ein optionaler Primer erhältlich sein. Die Z75 verwendet hochpigmentierte Tinten auf Wasserbasis, die den Tinten des neuen Pro VC80000 sehr ähnlich sind.

Zwei Kunden haben die Z75 in Europa bereits im Einsatz, beide mit völlig unterschiedlichen Hintergründen: Realisaprint.com ist eine Online-Druckerei mit Sitz in Südfrankreich, die ein breites Spektrum an kommerziellen Druckanwendungen anbietet, während der niederländische Spezialist für personalisierte Geschenke YourSurprise hauptsächlich Verpackungen auf schwerem Material druckt. Eine dritte europäische Installation wird bald folgen. Die Druckmaschine ist jetzt vollständig freigegeben und weitere Installationen werden für 2024 erwartet. Es sind einige beeindruckende Druckmuster verfügbar. Die gestrichenen Drucke der Z75 werden auf dem Tecnau-Stand in der Nähe fertiggestellt: auf Format geschnitten und mit einem UV-Lack aus einem Kompac 20-Lacksystem versehen.

Ricoh hat kürzlich auch sein Portfolio für den Toner-Produktionsdruck mit dem Ricoh Pro C7500 und dem Pro C 9500 überarbeitet. Das neue Toner-Flaggschiff, der Pro C9500, verfügt über ein verbessertes Frontend, eine einfachere Bedienung und eine bessere Planung von Wartungsaufgaben. Dank eines neuen, flacheren Papierwegs wird in Kürze ein neues Kit für schwere Medien auf den Markt kommen, das Karton mit einer Stärke von bis zu 800µ ermöglicht.
