During its press conference on Monday, Canon (Hall 8A, Stand B41-1 to B41-8), announced a global sales and service co-operation in inkjet printing with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen. The agreement will see the varioPRINT iX3200 B3 sheetfed inkjet press and the newly announced varioPRESS iV7 B2 sheetfed inkjet press integrated into Heidelberg’s commercial print portfolio. The products will be sold via Heidelberg under their own brand and product names.

Other news shared during the press conference were new additions to Canon’s hardware and software solutions.

Sheetfed Portfolio Expansion

Making its European debut at drupa is the new varioPRINT iX1700 sheetfed inkjet press (available in 2025), which will produce average monthly volumes from 300,000 to 1.5 million A4 images. The new press is positioned between the varioPRINT iX3200 B3 sheetfed inkjet press and the imagePRESS V series of colour toner presses.

In addition, Canon is extending its sheetfed inkjet capability to higher volumes with the announcement of a new heavy-duty, B2 sheetfed press, the varioPRESS iV7(scheduled for first installations in the second half of 2025), for a volume range up to 4.5 million B2 images per month. Based on current market availability, the variosPRESS iV7 is the ultimate B2 sheetfed factory, capable of producing 8,700 B2 4/0 sheets per hour.

Webfed Portfolio Expansion

In the ultra-high volume inkjet arena, drupa 2024 is the global launch platform for Canon’s latest high speed webfed inkjet presses, the new ProStream 2000 series and the ColorStream 8200, which is being shown in a smart end-to-end book-block solution.

For producers of wide format print applications, technology highlights are:

Labels and Packaging

Canon is giving its first live demonstration of the new LabelStream LS2000 (available in 2025) water-based digital label press outside Japan. Through a 3D model, Canon will also showcase its concept for a 1.7m wide, single pass, industrial-scale corrugated press, offering a production speed of 8,000 sqm/hour at offset quality. Edale, a Canon company since 2022, will showcase its FL5 carton production line integrated with FDC6000 flatbed die cutter for single-pass carton embellishment and finishing.

Canon kündigt Heidelberg-Kooperation und neue Technologien auf der drupa 2024 an

Auf seiner Pressekonferenz am Montag gab Canon (Halle 8A, Stand B41-1 bis B41-8) eine weltweite Vertriebs- und Servicekooperation im Inkjetdruck mit Heidelberger Druckmaschinen bekannt. Die Vereinbarung sieht vor, dass die Bogen-Inkjet-Druckmaschine varioPRINT iX3200 B3 und die neu angekündigte Bogen-Inkjet-Druckmaschine varioPRESS iV7 B2 in das Akzidenzdruck-Portfolio von Heidelberg integriert werden. Die Produkte werden über Heidelberg unter ihren eigenen Marken- und Produktnamen verkauft.

Weitere Neuigkeiten, die auf der Pressekonferenz vorgestellt wurden, waren neue Ergänzungen zu den Hardware und Software Lösungen von Canon.

Canon zeigt erstmals außerhalb Japans eine Live-Demonstration der neuen wasserbasierten digitalen Etikettendruckmaschine LabelStream LS2000 (verfügbar ab 2025). Anhand eines 3D-Modells wird Canon außerdem sein Konzept für eine 1,7 m breite Single-Pass-Wellpappendruckmaschine im industriellen Maßstab vorstellen.
