FUJIFILM Dimatix has a strong foothold in the inkjet space with their high quality and productive Samba printhead, the standard to many OEM printer manufacturers. However, they also manufacture a wide range of printheads to support the increasing range of materials dispersion manufacturing.

At drupa 2024, they are introducing the FUJIFILM Dimatix SkyFire^® SF600. Like the Samba, this new printheadleverages their proprietary piezoelectric inkjet technology based on proven silicon Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (Si-MEMS) fabrication techniques. It is designed to withstand a wide variety of inks including aqueous, organic solvents, and UV-curable, and print at high speeds while offering high quality and durability.

The SkyFire^® printhead can deliver four gray levels at 600 dpi resolution with a drop size range of 5–25pL and nozzle layout that enables a high throw distance to meet a broad range of applications. It is designed to support applications including commercial packaging, decor, textile, printed electronics, imprinting and coding and many others.

The printhead can jet an impressive 11 grams of ink per square meter per color at over 130 meters per minute with four levels of grayscale. OEMs can benefit from Versadrop open waveform editing capability that enables them to tune printhead performance to their specific application.

SkyFire has 1536 nozzles, and they are independent, so each one of them does what it needs to do according to the data. Some are firing, some are not firing, some are firing a lot of big drops, some are firing small drops, some are firing medium drops, etc. With that, there is a lot of motion and movement. Typically when you have motion and movement, you get resonance, so they have a dampening technology built into that structure. The printhead incorporates elements including the noise dampening technology and dual recirculation for reliable jetting at high speeds. When you minimize that noise in the print head it gives you cleaner drops with less or no satellites depending on the application. To ensure consistent output, the printhead is equipped with an integrated trimming heater and temperature sensor.

In this unique design, the nozzles are not in the usual single line or two line or three line pattern, it's has 12 interlaced rows which gives you more space between the nozzles that reduces interference artifacts. The printhead takes advantage of FUJIFILM Dimatix’ proprietary sputtered PZT rated for trillions of actuations. With that level of actuations, heads can be overdriven and therefore wear out over time, with their sputtered PZT technology, it enables them to eliminate the need for a wear out mechanism.

It is designed with REDIJET coatings that enables it to reliably jet a range of aqueous solvent, oil and UV curable types common in large single-pass and scanning printing systems. The printhead is also designed with top and tail alignment for compact integration and improved printhead to printhead accuracy. 

FUJIFILM Dimatix has partnered with several OEMs as early adopters across multiple industry segments who are testing and deploying the SkyFire SF600 printhead in their solutions. One of these early adopters is Shenzhen KINGT Technology Co., Ltd (KingT), a digital inkjet printing solution provider using the SkyFire SF600 inkjet printhead in its newly introduced KGT-2513-Hi flatbed printer.  KingT will be exhibiting at the upcoming drupa trade show located at Hall 8a booth B03. At their booth, KingT will display several products and samples printed using FUJIFILM Dimatix printheads including SAMBA® based label printers, the L-Press 330s and L-Press510, STARFIRE^® based décor printer and the SkyFire based flatbed printer, the KGT-2513-Hi.

Mit seinem leistungsstarken, hochqualitativen Samba-Druck, der für viele OEM-Druckmaschinenhersteller ein Standard ist, hat FUJIFILM Dimatix eine starke Position im Markt. Doch das Unternehmen stellt eine breite Palette an Druckköpfen her, die die zunehmende Vielfalt an Materialien und Dispersionen unterstützen.

Auf der drupa 2024 wird das Unternehmen den FUJIFILM Dimatix SkyFire® SF600 vorstellen. Wie der Samba nutzt auch dieser neue Druckkopf die firmeneigene piezoelektrische Inkjet-Technologie, die auf bewährten Si-MEMS-Fertigungstechniken (Silizium-Mikro-Elektro-Mechanische-Systeme) basiert. Er ist für eine Vielzahl von Tinten ausgelegt, darunter wässrige, lösemittelhaltige und UV-härtende Tinten, und druckt bei hohen Geschwindigkeiten, während er zugleich eine hohe Qualität und lange Haltbarkeit bietet.

Der SkyFire®-Druckkopf liefert vier Graustufen bei einer Auflösung von 600 dpi bei einer Tröpfchengröße von 5-25 pl und besitzt eine Düsenanordnung, die eine große Druckdistanz ermöglicht und so ein breites Anwendungsspektrum abdeckt. Er ist für Anwendungen wie Verpackungen, Dekore, Textilien, gedruckte Elektronik, Eindrucke und Codierungen sowie viele mehr konzipiert.

Der Druckkopf kann beeindruckende 11 Gramm Tinte pro Quadratmeter und Farbe bei über 130 m/min und mit vier Graustufen ausstoßen. OEMs profitieren von der Versadrop-eigenen Möglichkeit, die offene Wellenform zu editieren, und so die Leistung des Druckkopfs gezielt auf die gewünschte Anwendung einstellen zu können. 

Der SkyFire verfügt über 1536 Düsen, die unabhängig voneinander arbeiten, so dass jede einzelne Düse das tut, was sie gemäß der Druckdaten tun muss. Manche stoßen Tinte aus, manche nicht, manche stoßen viele große Tropfen aus, manche kleine Tropfen, manche mittlere Tropfen, usw. Doch damit gibt es auch viel Bewegung. Wenn sich etwas bewegt, entstehen in der Regel Resonanzen, darum wurde eine dämpfende Technologie in die Struktur eingebaut. Der Druckkopf enthält Komponenten, unter anderem zur Rauschreduzierung, sowie die doppelte Rezirkulation für einen zuverlässigen Tintenstrahl bei hohen Geschwindigkeiten. Wird das Rauschen im Druckkopf minimiert, erhält man sauberere Tropfen mit weniger oder gar Streutröpfchen, je nach Anwendung. Um einen gleichmäßigen Output zu gewährleisten, ist der Druckkopf mit einem integrierten Heizelement und einem Temperatursensor ausgestattet.

Bei diesem einzigartigen Aufbau sind die Düsen nicht wie üblich in einem ein-, zwei- oder dreizeiligen Muster angeordnet, sondern in 12 verschachtelten Reihen, wodurch mehr Platz zwischen den Düsen entsteht und Interferenzartefakte reduziert werden. Der Druckkopf nutzt die Vorteile des von FUJIFILM Dimatix entwickelten gesputterten PZT, das für Billionen von Schwingungen ausgelegt ist. Bei einer derartig hohen Anzahl

können Druckköpfe irgendwann übersteuern und mit der Zeit verschleißen – doch mit der gesputterten PZT-Technologie kann auf einen Verschleißmechanismus verzichtet werden. 

Der Druckkopf ist REDIJET-beschichtet, was es ihm ermöglicht, eine Reihe von wässrigen Lösungsmittel-, Öl-basierten und UV-härtenden Tinten – wie sie in großen Single- und Multi-Pass-Drucksystemen üblich sind – zuverlässig zu drucken. Der Druckkopf wurde außerdem mit einer Top- und Tail-Ausrichtung für eine kompakte Integration und verbesserte Druckkopf-zu-Druckkopf-Genauigkeit entwickelt.

FUJIFILM Dimatix hat Partnerschaften mit mehreren OEMs geschlossen, die den SkyFire-SF600-Druckkopf in ihren Lösungen testen und einsetzen. Einer dieser Early Adopters ist Shenzhen KINGT Technology Co., Ltd (KingT), ein Anbieter digitaler Inkjet-Drucklösungen, der den SkyFire-SF600-Inkjet-Druckkopf in seinem neu eingeführten KGT-2513-Hi-Flachbettdrucker verwendet. KingT stellt auf der drupa in Halle 8a, Stand B03, aus. Dort zeigt KingT verschiedene Produkte und Muster, die mit Druckköpfen von FUJIFILM Dimatix gedruckt werden, darunter Etikettendrucker mit SAMBA-Köpfen, die L-Press 330s und L-Press510, Dekordrucksysteme mit STARFIRE®-Köpfen sowie der SkyFire-Druckköpfen ausgestattete Flachbettdrucker, der KGT-2513-Hi.
