April 2023 printing shipments came in at $7.00 billion, down from March’s $7.58 billion and in line with annual seasonality—although we are still below the past two years. We kind of expected 2023 to be a bit less spectacular than 2022, which still saw business booming as we fully recovered from the work that was lost during the pandemic. So 2023 is settling back into a sort of normality. January-to-April shipments for 2023 are at $28.56 billion, a bit below year’s $28.92 billion. As we head into summer, it looks like 2023 is not going to be a spectacular year but not as bad as 2020. (How’s that for damning with faint praise?)
