You know what they say about cobbler’s children? They never have good shoes because the shoes go to paying customers. We have the same challenge in the print industry. Even companies that offer website design as part of their services offering struggle to create a compelling website for their own services. Let’s talk about that!
Our mission is to provide cogent commentary and analysis about trends, technologies, operations, and events in all the markets that comprise today’s printing industry. Support our mission and read articles like this with a Premium Membership.

Question: Which page on your website is the homepage? Answer: All of them.
Don't assume every visitor enters your website from the home page. URLs on business cards and delivery trucks are all well and good. But, depending what they're typing into Google, there's a chance another page on your site may appear higher in rankings.
Search engines don’t give a stuff about home pages. You don’t get to decide on which page your visitors enter your website. Google, and the rest, are deciding which page on your website is the “homepage” for the visitor, based upon the search terms they’ve entered.
Why should you care? Because every page on your website needs to be strong enough to stand on its own. It must not rely on the visitor stumbling around your site and finding the information they want by accident.
Excellent advice and worthy guidance for everyone with a website - which should be every service and product provider, as well as every industry association and educational outpost. Thank you!
