W+D Already Receives Orders for 11 Halm I-Jet Inkjet Envelope Overprint Presses in 2019

Press release from the issuing company

W+D announces a strong start to 2019 sales for its Halm i-jet inkjet envelope overprint press. Since beginning of the year W+D has sold 11 Halm i-Jet envelope overprint presses. This brings the total to 35 W+D Halm i-Jets sold making it the dominant inkjet overprint production press for envelopes.

Andrew Schipke VP Sales and Marketing states, “We have seen much more acceptance of inkjet especially now in the very quality conscious European market where now a total of 12 Halm i-jet presses have been sold since the introduction of our Halm i-Jet 2.0 for the European market last June at W+D Direct Mail Days. As high quality inkjet has become accepted by the general printing markets, the envelope imprinting segment is seeing more buyer acceptance of inkjet printed products. This coupled with a growing amount of short run work, versioning, quicker delivery times and demand for new personalized 1:1 product puts inkjet into a position where offset just cannot compete. When analyzing the cost per printed envelope looking at the number of plate and color changes you are doing monthly, we are seeing more printers using inkjet to save money for short run work up to 100,000 envelopes. The W+D Halm i-Jet press will not only increase profit on most traditional envelope printing jobs but will also generate new opportunities in the high margin short run and variable markets. This versatile press is being used for more than printing on finished envelopes. Many users are running sizes from 3.5” x 4” up to 9 ”x 12” with the upper feeder but because of the flexibility of the W+D Halm i-Jet lower feeder they are also able to print flat paper stock that then can be converted on their envelope machines. Some customers use the lower feeder to run an 11”x 17” sheet and get a #10 envelope and a letterhead printed out on one sheet with perfect color match. This allows front and back of envelope printing and bleed off the score. The lower feeder is capable of handling documents up 15”x 18”, including uncoated, card stock, labels, post card mailers and letterhead”.

The W+D Halm i-Jet has quickly become the market leader in the production mail inkjet envelope overprinting market. Powered by a Memjet production class CMYK inkjet print engine the award winning Halm i-Jet prints at a very high 1600 x 1375 dpi at 32,000 #10 EPH and offers the best in class consumable costs for Memjet print technology.
