Press release from the issuing company
River Falls, Wis. – A unique new “Look Book” printed on a high-speed manroland web offset press by Druckerei Kyburz of Dielsdorf, Switzerland will be on display at Print UV 2019, showcasing the vibrant color, ink density and quality enabled when using LED-UV technology from AMS Spectral UV – A Baldwin Technology Company in lieu of heat-set drying to produce commercial work.
The Look Book, which is printed on seven different paper types to show the range of substrates one can use when printing via the LED method, features vibrant imagery that is rich in black tones and complex multicolor scenarios. It was printed as part of an Open House event, hosted by Druckerei Kyburz and AMS Spectral UV, in conjunction with Chromos AG, which gave attentive European printers the chance to see an X Series™ LED-UV system live and in action.
“The great thing about our newest Web Offset LED print sample is that is proves LED-UV produces color and quality that supersedes anything possible with conventional drying methods, and at speeds that are literally twice as fast as the fastest sheetfed perfecting press,” said Steve Metcalf, president of AMS Spectral UV. “Not only are copies instantly dry and into finishing, but it is done with zero heat, zero chill-down, zero gas consumption, no permitting, and half of the electrical energy of a typical heat-set dryer.”
He continued: “In addition, makeready waste is reduced, wavy-ness is eliminated, and a wide variety of lighter-weight materials can be used – reducing paper consumption, as well as its transportation cost and environmental impact on downstream direct mail. Add to that a large amount of physical space is saved in the pressroom by removal of the heatset dryer that can be rededicated to other forms of inline finishing.”
“We appreciate being able to work with customers like Druckerei Kyburz and partners such as Chromos to show off their capabilities after installing out technology, and to give printers who are looking to gain a competitive edge the chance to learn how LED-UV curing can provide that advantage, by seeing firsthand how a growing number of web printers like Kyburz are changing the game with it.”
Printers interested in attending Print UV 2019 (March 27-29, 2018) can register for the three-day educational gathering, which is held annually in Las Vegas, at printuv.com.
