The Packaging Experts Begins Web-to-Print Revolution with Roland VersaUV

Press release from the issuing company

Clevedon, UK – A ground-breaking new service is about to be launched by The Packaging Experts, thanks to the installation of a Roland DG VersaUV LEF-200 flatbed UV printer.

Founded over five years ago by Paul Marsh, The Packaging Experts has grown to comprise a team of nine and, last year, to move into new premises in Basingstoke, Hampshire. This large space has enabled The Packaging Experts to invest in new technology, including a Roland VersaUV LEF-200 benchtop printer, supplied by printMAX in December 2018.

"I spent 20 years in print management, and when my employer went into administration it was the perfect opportunity for me to start running my own business," explains Paul Marsh, Managing Director, The Packaging Experts. "I've always been a big advocate of Roland so was looking forward to investing in a Roland system when we had space for the new printing equipment."

Paul was already very familiar with VersaUV technology having partnered with Roland and printMAX on several fantastic marketing projects, including one notable personalisation campaign for confectionery brand Kinder. Over Christmas 2017, two Roland VersaUV LEF-12i systems were installed in John Lewis's Oxford Street department store and used to print personalised messages directly to Kinder Surprise packaging.

"The Kinder project was a massive, massive success," says Paul. "The VersaUV's ability to print directly to 90% of ready-constructed boxes creates a lot of opportunities to diversify."

Specifically, The Packaging Experts team is preparing to launch a new and exciting new service that will allow customers to order uniquely printed boxes directly from the company's website. Having chosen their preferred size and shape of carton, customers will then send their design directly to the VersaUV's powerful VersaWorks 6 RIP software to be printed automatically onto the packaging, with vibrant full-colour and white inks. This seamless, automated process will ensure high levels of service and speed, without compromising on quality.

Paul Marsh says the new project will help businesses grow – from start-ups all the way to blue chip companies demanding a fast turnaround for fresh ideas.

"We want to get manufacturing back in the UK, and our new technology and service will help support that," he says.

"I love being challenged," he adds. "I like to find the right equipment to solve people's problems. We used to do everything by hand so having the automated Roland workflow will make a big difference to The Packaging Experts and to our customers. It's a very unique service."
