Registration Is Open for Chicagoland Printers Scholarship Golf Outing

Press release from the issuing company

Annual Event Has Funded More Than $100K in Scholarships

Tinley Park, Ill. – Registration is now open for the Sixth Annual Chicagoland Printers Scholarship Golf Outing, set for Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville, IL. The outing is co-hosted by three participating organizations, the Great Lakes Graphics Association, the Calumet Ben Franklin Club and the Graphic Communications Guild.

The proceeds from this golf outing support scholarships for deserving students in Illinois who are seeking continuing education in the graphic communications field. Since the inaugural golf outing in 2013, the participating organizations have funded almost 60 scholarships totaling more than $100,000.

Steve and Kevin Richards of Richards Graphic Communications in Bellwood, IL, are co-chairing this year’s event with the assistance of committee members from each participating organization. The committee is hard at work planning another exceptional outing for area printers, finishers, vendors and mailers to network and enjoy a day on the links. Special event holes will give golfers the chance to win more than $2500 in prizes. This year’s Country and Western theme will bring some fun events; players are encouraged to dress in Western style.

Last year’s golf outing was a sell-out, and players are urged to reserve their spots early this year. Teams and single golfers are welcome; the committee can match up single players looking for golfing partners. A dinner-only registration option also is available. To register, visit the online registration page at www.glga.info or contact Sharon Flick at (855) 522-2210 or [email protected]

The three participating organizations dedicate 100 percent of the profits from the outing to support Illinois high school and college students advancing their education in the study of graphic arts. By combining the efforts of these participating organizations, the scholarship award amounts have increased and additional students have benefitted.

Each year the outing has contributed funds to the Illinois Graphic Communications Scholarship Consortium to award to qualified students seeking financial assistance. Typically, 15 to 20 Illinois students annually are selected by the consortium to receive scholarship funds. For more information about the consortium and the scholarship program, please visit http://glga.info/illinois-graphic-communications-scholarship-program/

Opportunities also are available to support the event through sponsoring standard and premium holes; sponsoring golf carts, beverage carts, banners, and games; and donating prizes. Industry suppliers and vendors who are interested in participating are encouraged to choose your sponsorship early to avoid missing out on your preferred activity. For sponsorship information, contact Bill Gibson, GLGA Illinois Director, at (312) 704-5000 or [email protected]

Any interested person in the Illinois printing industry is invited to participate in the golf outing. You do not need to be a member of GLGA, the Ben Franklin Club or the GCG to golf, attend the dinner, or be a sponsor.
