The fourth quarter of 2017 is shaping up to be momentous for Dome, one of California's largest privately held print solution providers, its well-known customer base, and its 250 employees. By then, Dome will have consolidated its five facilities into a newly-renovated 320,000 sq ft facility in Sacramento’s McClellan Park and have begun a new partnership with KBA to install two of its most popular presses---a Rapida 106 41-inch 10-color UV perfector sheetfed press and a Rapida 205 81-inch large format---at the new location.
This is a two-fold aggressive growth strategy in Dome’s core strategic initiative to position its business to provide not only the highest quality products but continue to drive down costs by being the most efficient printing facility in the market. Dome continues to differentiate itself in its industry by offering unique solutions to its retail clients, broad product lines, and a customer-centric culture. Its new KBA presses will add creative options for the display designers employed by Dome’s retail clients by offering an enlarged print format of 81 inches and the versatility of the 10-color press.
“With these purchases Dome is taking a bold step into the world of superlarge format and super speed sheetfed offset printing,” says Misha Pavlov, Dome’s President. “The KBA Rapida 205’s XXL sheet size with 5-color UV printing, on substrates up to 48 points at 9,000 sheets per hour is the perfect addition to our business. This is a game-changer for Northern California, Oregon, Northern Nevada, and Washington, enabling Dome to serve customers and prospects in these markets better than anyone, as this is the only 81 inch press in the area. The Rapida 106, 10-color UV perfecting press allows us to do what we already do so well, but better and faster. Who doesn’t love that?”
The superlarge format Rapida gives Dome the versatility and speed that is essential to the in-store signage and display segments of retail marketing. The Rapida 106 is a 10 color, double coater, full-interdeck UV press, which makes ready all 10 colors ultra-fast. This fully loaded press will bring increased quality, efficiency and greater productivity while offering high-end applications previously not offered in-house.
These new presses will be up and running by the end of this year and will not only enhance services to existing clients but open doors to new verticals. Tim Poole, Dome’s CEO and Partner states, “The new press acquisitions are in alignment with Dome’s core strategic initiatives. We are positioning ourselves to provide not only the highest quality products to our clients, but continue to drive down our cost by being the most efficient printing facility in the U.S. market.”
The consolidation of facilities and the installation of the two KBA high-performance presses will literally change the face of who Dome is, says Pavlov. “Dome is a great company and we are on a new trajectory to be world class. Consolidating into a single super facility will make Dome more efficient, while expanding our current capabilities. This is an electrifying transition that will strategically position us to grow exponentially and drastically expand our client base.”
