Royle Printing’s New KBA Rapida 105 Press Serves Up Throughput, Uptime, and Makeready

Press release from the issuing company

Its award-winning corporate culture produces high-quality catalogs, magazines, and collateral

  • Named Best Workplace in the Americas by PIA
  • Nearly doubling throughput, stunning uptime, and shorter makeready
  • On-going commitment to provide customers with modern and feature-rich operating platform

For nearly 70 years, Royle Printing has established a pattern of selecting the best craftsman from its Wisconsin vicinity steeped in printing culture to produce the highest quality web printing of catalogs, magazines, and corporate collateral. It has sought out “associates”---its term for employees---to enrich its workplace and foster impeccable communication between all 250 employees at its modern facility in Sun Prairie, WI. With an emphasis on service and responsiveness that is rooted in its culture, Royle Printing recently made the decision to purchase a new KBA Rapida 105 five-color press. The new press will significantly increase uptime, reduce makeready, decrease waste, and provide modern and feature-rich sheetfed capacity to Royle’s existing platform.

“Our sharp growth is indicative of the great care we take in serving our customers, their work, and our associates,” says Chris Carpenter, Royle’s President. “Our success rests on one word—culture---and how we deliver value and service to our clients. Further, it’s critical we treat our employees as important resources with very rewarding careers.”

Maintaining a vibrant working environment for its employees, Royle continues to invest in new technology and a larger campus. They’re currently constructing a 60,000 sq ft warehouse facility for storage, alleviating the space constraints in their existing location. The new KBA Rapida 105 sheetfed press comes in the wake of the firm’s purchase of its third high-speed web press and a new perfect binder. Carpenter acknowledges that the firm wanted to update its sheetfed capabilities and add capacity due to growth, noting that it’s a good problem to have. The new KBA Rapida press, he says, will play an important role in the firm’s production, producing covers both aqueous and UV coated with LED-UV curing.

“Our customers continue to believe in print,” says Carpenter. “Whether you are a publisher or a cataloguer, print plays an essential role in our customers marketing and communication mix.”

As Carpenter and his team look forward to serving their customers; while adjusting to the many changes and challenges impacting the printing industry, one thing will not change…the firm’s commitment to its associates and strong corporate culture. It’s no wonder that the firm has consistently been named to the elite ranking of Best Workplace in the Americas by Printing Industries of America. Our customers, he says, recognize our extraordinary work environment and see value in doing business with a company that invests in its people and its technology. They appreciate our craftsmen and our commitment to attracting and retaining the most skilled talent.

Steve Korn, KBA’s Director of National and Key Accounts, adds, “This new KBA Rapida 105 press investment made by Royle Printing signals that one of the “Best Workplaces in America” has chosen to invest with KBA to provide access to higher technology for its existing and growing roster of clients.  We are truly honored to be part of Royle’s capital investment strategy.  This investment will drive further manufacturing efficiencies, and provide greater capacity with the latest industry leading sheetfed press technology. We at KBA appreciate the new partnership that we’ve forged with Royle Printing. We congratulate Chris Carpenter and his entire team on what they’ve accomplished, their remarkable growth in both sales and physical facilities, and even more important, on their extremely talented associates who relentlessly focus on customer satisfaction each and every day. We are certain that this new KBA Rapida 105 press will efficiently drive more volume through Royle’s production facilities, fuel ongoing growth, and continue Royle’s high quality and on-time service for many years to come.”
