Curtis Packaging Installs New KBA 51" Rapida Sheetfed Press

Sandy Hook, CT- April 1, 2004- Curtis Packaging a leading packaging designer and folding carton printer in the United States has installed a new all UV 10 station 51” KBA Rapida press with Dispersion Coater. The Rapida press is a first of its’ kind in North America and is designed to print spot colors and metallics more attractive and effective. The new system includes extensive dispersion coating and drying capabilities enabling metallic colors Gold, Silver, Platinum or Bronze to be added at the start of the process or during the press operation. The Rapida dispersion coater when used in the proper application is a more cost effective alternative than foil. With a top rated speed of 15,000 sheets per hour, the press includes 8 printing stations and the ability to print 4-color process and 4-color specialty colors in one pass. The press is also an outstanding short-run performer as controlled make-readies can be moved from job-to-job in a matter of minutes. Curtis now has two (2) 51” all UV KBA presses (7 & 8 colors).
