New Nexpress Software Expands Web-To-Print Capabilities

Press release from the issuing company

HEIDELBERG, Germany — Print providers using the NexPress 2100 digital production color press can create a more efficient digital workflow and offer their customers advanced options for designing, ordering and managing color print jobs over the Web. At the Drupa 2004 trade show, NexPress Solutions LLC is demonstrating new NexTreme OneFlow+ software, a workflow solution that enables NexPress 2100 press operators to easily control complex arrays of print jobs. In addition, the company is unveiling two new Web-to-print software solutions, NexTreme Exchange and NexTreme Media Producer software. The company also is offering more advanced versions of its NexTreme DL-100 and NexTreme DL-1000 solutions for variable data printing applications. “NexPress is singularly focused on helping print providers create a more efficient digital workflow and benefit from new business opportunities afforded by digital printing applications,” said Venkat Purushotham, President and CEO, NexPress Solutions LLC. “These new software solutions will enable print businesses to easily produce Web-to-print jobs — the next killer applications for digital printing — and to build an automated and streamlined workflow that ensures immediate success.” NexTreme Exchange and NexTreme Media Producer Two new Web-to-print solutions bring a virtual prepress and print shop to the customer. NexTreme Exchange software automates the fulfillment of static, short-run print jobs, making it easy for clients to log on to print-provider Web sites where they can submit PDF files for printing, and specify print orders online. Examples include on-demand real-estate sell sheets, customized automotive brochures and personalized college catalogs, through print-driver supported applications such as Microsoft Word, QuarkXPress and others. NexTreme Media Producer software enables press users to easily create templates and versioned print documents in a Web-based order-management tool. They can use the NexTreme Media Producer solution to set up print-ready materials that are customized or versioned, then invite sales staff or other content-creators to order their own versions to be printed on the NexPress 2100 press. Based on Saepio templating technology, organizations can use NexTreme Media Producer software to develop promotional campaigns through online versioning and simple personalization, with seamless distribution. NexTreme OneFlow+ NexTreme OneFlow+ software is a workflow system component that automates prepress workflow on the NexStation and facilitates seamless integration of print-on-demand, Web-to-print and variable data printing applications in a fully automated mode. Because it’s easy to learn, press operators quickly can become more productive by using the OneFlow+ features that speed routine functions through a simple drag-and-drop interface. The new application uses a centralized software platform that can integrate a customer’s production and business needs. NexTreme OneFlow+ software will be available in the fourth quarter. NexTreme DL-100 and DL-1000, Versions 2.0 The new versions of NexTreme DL-100 and DL-1000 software bring improved functionality to users of variable data printing. NexTreme DL-100, version 2.0, is an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that enables designers to quickly and easily compose low- to moderate-complexity VDP files on a Windows or Macintosh computer. The new version directly links with existing static designs produced in QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign or any PDF document, and outputs in PPML/VDX, PDF and PostScript. NexTreme DL-100, version 2.0, also employs improved VDX workflow, increasing overall processing speed. NexTreme DL-1000, version 2.0, is a server solution that is ideal for high-volume VDP jobs, and is designed to work seamlessly with the DL-100 user version. NexTreme DL-1000, version 2.0, includes an application-programming interface that enables organizations to design their own customized client applications, whether they are using a production-server interface or a Web-to-print model. In addition, workflow automation tools are included to increase workflow efficiency and ease of use. To help get the power of VDP running quickly and smoothly, NexPress provides NexTreme DL-1000 users four days of on-site training. Both the NexTreme DL-100 and DL-1000, versions 2.0, will be available in July.
