Program is designed to assist in keeping your workplace safe

Fairfax, Virginia - Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) has announced a newly developed Right to Know training program in response to final changes to the Hazard Communication Standard, implemented by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). SGIA strives to be the best resource to stay informed about important safety measures for their member businesses.

The updated Hazard Communication Standard features changes that include the ways in which hazards must be classified, how they are to be labeled as such, and in what format and with which specific information Safety Data Sheets must be presented. While full implementation doesn’t occur until 2015, OSHA requires that workers be trained by December 1, 2013 on the new label elements and safety data sheet format, in addition to current training requirements.

“SGIA’s safety training resource provides employers with the information needed to meet the criticalDecember 1 deadline. The new program continues to incorporate all training elements that are required by OSHA for right to know training,” stated Marci Kinter, vice president of government and business information. “And we heard your suggestions! This is a much more interactive program, providing engagement with employees throughout the training.”

SGIA’s new Right to Know training program includes a DVD that incorporates information regarding new hazard warning labels and safety data sheets. This instructional video also covers personal protective equipment in the workplace.

• New train-the-trainer resources to help personalize the training to your location
• A safety poster detailing all of the new hazard warning elements and pictograms for use as a training aid
• Employee guides
• Complete templates for your written program and for listing all hazardous chemicals
• A copy of the new Hazard Communication Standard
