2012 NPIRI Summer Course

Press release from the issuing company

The National Printing Ink Research Institute (NPIRI) Summer Course, “Printing Ink Technology” has been widely recognized as the premier technical training venue for printing ink formulation for more than 50 years. This year’s course held at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI on July 8-13 carried on this tradition. In recent years, the backgrounds, interests and work experience of the attendees has changed dramatically from the entry level ink formulator or production technician of years past. The 44 students attending this year’s course came from such diverse backgrounds as printing/converting, graphic arts raw materials suppliers, consumer brand companies and ink manufacturers. All were exposed to an intensive week of expert classroom instruction and hands-on experience in the pressroom.

Following are comments and thoughts from this year’s attendees:

“All in all, this course covered the major area’s we have in the printing industry and I found this to be very beneficial for my continued learning education. The instructors were all very informative, the topics were all relevant, and to be honest I wish I would have done this course years’ ago! ” Rachel Belpedio – Toyo Ink

“I could sum my experiences and impressions of NAPIM training course in several ways. The facilities used to demonstrate the numerous aspects that are critical to the various types of printing techniques and the media involved was incredibly fascinating.” Michael Player – ExxonMobil

“I have recently started working in inks, after spending over twenty years in coatings. I needed a broad overview of ink technology and usage in today's markets, and that's exactly what I got at the 2012 NPIRI Summer Course. I found each presentation useful, and the speakers intelligent and experienced.  This course would be critical for anyone new in the field, and useful for experienced "Ink Folk". Also a great place to make professional connections. Well worth the money and time. ” Bill Merritt, Development Scientist, BASF

Next year’s course will again be held at Fox Valley Technical College on July 14 – 19, 2013.  Visit the Summer Course page on the NAPIM website for up-to-date information.
