Scitex Digital Printing Introduces New Monochrome Printing System

Press release from the issuing company

Dayton, Ohio (October 26, 2003) – Scitex Digital Printing today unveiled the latest addition to the VersaMark product family, the VersaMark JetBlack Printing System, at Xplor International, one of the premiere trade shows for the printing industry. Designed with the same high-quality imaging technology integrated in all products in the VersaMark series, JetBlack is targeted to meet the high throughput and low total cost of ownership (TCO) requirements of high volume transactional document and direct mail printing professionals. The company expects to begin shipping the JetBlack Printing System early in 2004. JetBlack is available in two configurations: JetBlack SE with a single print module capable of 2-up simplex or 1-up duplex printing, and JetBlack DE with dual print modules for 2-up duplex printing. The list price for the SE model is $419,000 while the list price of the DE model is $815,000. The systems have a base running speed of 350 feet per minute (107 meters per minute), which delivers throughput up to 1,527 impressions per minute (8.5” x 11”). In addition, JetBlack will be able to be upgraded to 500 fpm (152 mpm), which delivers up to 2,180 ipm. “With the introduction of the JetBlack Printing System, we deliver a solution that meets two major market requirements,” explained Steve Coburn, manager, Systems Product Management for Scitex Digital Printing. “Requirement one is to provide a highly productive and reliable system with a low acquisition cost and an even lower operating cost,“ continued Coburn. “Requirement two is to protect customers’ investment in printing technology. Unlike other technologies, the imaging engine of JetBlack can be reconfigured and combined with additional components to create a full color printing system: ensuring 100% protection of your investment. As the market for full color printing continues to grow, choosing a printing technology that will meet your needs for today and for tomorrow just makes sense.” JetBlack incorporates many of the same features as the other products in the VersaMark product family. Customers will have the option of selecting from two basic controller options: the System Controller 400 that supports Scitex Digital Printing’s native IJPDS or the Data Controller 300 that supports industry standard IPDS. JetBlack utilizes the same low cost consumables as other VersaMark products that enable it to deliver the low operating cost demanded by customers.
