VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA -- October 23, 2003 -- Creo is pleased to report on the exceptional performance demonstrated by the Prinergy workflow management system and the new Veris(tm) proofer at the Digitalproof Forum last month, organized by the German Printing and Media Industries Federation and the European Color Initiative in Wuppertal, Germany. By passing the challenging Altona Test Suite 1.1, the Prinergy workflow management system demonstrates its 100 percent compliance with PDF/X-3. The Prinergy workflow management system was one of the 25 percent of competing workflow systems to successfully handle all PDF/X-3 elements in the Altona Test Suite, the industry benchmark for evaluating proof quality, and PDF and RIP functionality.
First in Color Match...
The Creo solution, comprising the Veris proofer with the new Prinergy 2.2 workflow management system featuring the new Creo Color Management Engine, and ICC profiles generated by Profile Wizard(tm) color management software, demonstrated proof quality with the lowest average delta-E score, indicating best overall color match to target. This means that the Veris proofer achieved the best overall color simulation of the target press sheet. Delta-E is a widely-accepted measure of color difference, with a small number indicating less difference between the proof and the target.
First in Overall Proof Quality...
The Veris proofer also performed extremely well with the GMG ColorProof System, a new color management proofing solution developed by GMG Color GmbH & Co. KG, a leading German developer of high-end color management solutions. Judged by a number of independent industry experts, this configuration obtained the top score for the best visual match. "It was impressive to achieve the highest overall proof quality at the first public showing of the GMG ColorProof system driving the Veris," says Meike Wesseling, Veris product manager, Creo. "This is the first success of the strategic alliance between Creo and GMG that we announced in July of this year."
The Veris proofer features Multi-Drop Array(tm) inkjet imaging to achieve the utmost in drop placement accuracy at 1500 x 1500 dpi with production speeds. The Veris proofer is currently undergoing field testing with customers in North America and Europe as Creo builds service, training and installation capacity to meet strong demand.
Creo entered the Digitalproof Forum with 26 proofing systems from 15 vendors. Twenty-three systems were evaluated on workflow handling of PDF/X-3, proof quality, physical resolving power, speed, and color match.
