Creo Presents Networked Graphic Production for Newspapers at IfraExpo
Press release from the issuing company
IFRAEXPO 2003 LEIPZIG, GERMANY -- October 13, 2003 -- Creo Inc. is demonstrating the latest newspaper printing prepress solutions ass part of Networked Graphic Production(tm) (NGP) at IfraExpo 2003 from October 13 to 16 in Leipzig, Germany. Networked Graphic Production is the industry-wide initiative of 27 partners for automating the entire print production process by creating an efficient, collaborative environment from idea to delivery. NGP Partners are committed to using open standards to deliver seamlessly integrated cross-vendor solutions that decrease cycle times, cut costs, and increase revenues.
Making the Connection...
At IfraExpo, Creo is demonstrating a number of key components to a newspaper Networked Graphic Production environment. The Prinergy workflow management system and the Prinergy Newsrun application are the industry's only end-to-end PDF workflow solutions. Prinergy delivers an elegant and complete workflow management tool that organizes page processing, proofing, and computer-to-plate imaging.
The Prinergy Newsrun application has been designed for the unique needs of newspapers. It imposes broadsheet pages for single-width presses and tabloid pages into pairs or quads, adding all required crop marks, page numbers, barcodes, folios and other plate furniture in an automated process that passes the imposed Job Tickets and Advanced Production Automation (APA) files to the workflow system.
Using Synapse Prepare software from Creo, a newspaper advertiser can prepare its ad for print as a PDF file that precisely matches a newspaper's technical specs with a single mouse-click-avoiding the delays and costs of rework and re-submission. With the Synapse InSite Internet portal into prepress, advertisers can submit their ads as completed digital files, remotely via the Internet. From their own offices, the ad agency and the client can soft proof their ads or page previews, and "chat" online in real time with the newspaper's prepress department to submit change requests or approvals. Synapse InSite can dramatically reduce the time and costs associated with submissions and approvals.
Partnering for Productivity...
Creo partner PrimaSolve is demonstrating two products at the Creo stand during IfraExpo. PrimaSolve develops press control and management systems for the newspaper industry. PRIMA RIPSet is an advanced ink presetting system for newspaper presses, and will be integrated with a Creo Trendsetter NEWS 200 platesetter, a Prinergy workflow management system, and Prinergy Newsrun software. PRIMA Esprit, a unique tool that allows newspapers to optimize press impositions based on editorial and advertising requirements, is also being demonstrated.
A Kodak Polychrome Graphics Mercury News processor is processing ThermalNews plates live at the Creo stand, while Kodak Polychrome Graphics demonstrates a Trendsetter NEWS 100 in hall 2, stand I370.
