Xaar 1001 Printheads At Labelexpo

Press release from the issuing company

28 August 2008 – At Labelexpo Americas 2008, Delta Industrial Services, Inc. will be featuring its Delta Mod-Tech EDGE Laser Converting system at booth #3008 with digital UV printing capability, using Delta's new Digital Print Module with Xaar 1001 inkjet printheads.

The Mod-Tech EDGE Laser Converting system gives converters a flexible manufacturing solution for complex geometries, precision products and quick-changeover, coupled with high-quality flexo, screen or digital printing – all on the same machine. The module's flexibility is due in part to its unique servo-controlled robotic arm for laser module repositioning. To complement this flexibility, the machine has been fitted with Delta's new Digital Print Module. This new module features an array of Xaar 1001 inkjet printheads to provide CMYK and spot color digital printing with UV inks, the capability for instantaneous print image changeover, and the modularity found on all the Delta Mod-Tech modules. With the Delta Mod-Tech Edge, Delta is providing the converting industry one machine with many solutions.

According to Delta industrial CEO David Schiebout: " Our customers have come to expect cost efficiency, high quality output with minimal material waste, high reliability, and low maintenance from our web converting machines. But until today, they have had to use a separate printer to get quality color. We expect a lot of interest in this new integration of printing and converting in a single, flexible machine."

The Xaar 1001, recipient of a 2008 PIA/GATF InterTech Award, is the ideal inkjet printhead for digital web printing. Designed for high-speed, single-pass applications, the Xaar 1001 printhead is at the heart of a number of innovative UV inkjet presses. Its unique XaarDOT technology allows variable-sized drops to be produced, giving users the ability to select drop size depending upon the application. The 1001 printhead also incorporates Xaar's new HSS printhead technology, delivers "through-flow" operation that sends ink past each nozzle orifice, keeping the channels primed and operational.

The Delta digital label-printing module will be driven by ixPressia Colour Label software. The new package allows design and printing of full color variable data. It can build up a label with pictures, background graphics, bar codes, numbers and words, all of which can be variable or static, in full color, at the full speed of the Xaar 1001 printheads. This is a unique technology, ideally suited for short run label printing and is generating a great deal of interest from traditional printers wanting to go digital.

"We are excited to be associated with the Delta Mod-Tech EDGE converting system," comments Chris Lynn, VP, Sales and Marketing, Xaar Americas, Inc. "The combination of high-quality, continuous single-pass digital printing with flexible converting, has the potential to change the way the entire supply chain approaches the production of a whole range of web-converted products."
