Promoting a resurgent print market, KBA Report #37 Corporate Issue is available

Press release from the issuing company

KBA North America, a global press manufacturer based in Dallas, Texas, announces that its KBA Report #37 is available. The corporate magazine of the Koenig & Bauer group was published at the beginning of September with numerous articles on recent investments in new sheetfed and web presses from around the world. The economic upturn, which has been driving the print market since spring 2010, is one of the highlighted areas in the 37th issue of the KBA Report.

Among the many spectacular customer installations described in the Report are the 14-unit medium-format Rapida 106 41-inch press with inline coating before and after perfecting, which is currently in production at the U.S. facility of the world's leading playing card manufacturer Cartamundi in Dallas, Texas.

A look at Hammer Packaging’s unique press configuration is also included. This premier package printing company headquartered in Rochester, NY, installed a new KBA Rapida 162 64-inch eight-color sheetfed press plus coater and additional key accessories such as a roll-to-sheet feeder, KBA Densitronic Professional color control system, and lightweight paper package. Hammer is the only packaging printer in North America with this type of press configuration.

Customer and installation reports on commercial, book, packaging, plastics and newspaper printers from all over the world--from Egypt to China and Mexico to Sweden or Switzerland—are covered. A series of technical articles on current topics, such as energy efficiency and inline color control, and a presentation of the new KBA C16 16-page commercial web press add up to an extremely in-depth 52-page read.

The first few pages of the Report are devoted to a sad occasion for KBA and its entire print family: An obituary for the former longstanding KBA president and visionary inventor Dr. Hans-Bernhard Bolza-Schünemann, who passed away on July 23, 2010 at the age of 84. Current president Helge Hansen titles his remembrance of the life and work of one of the industry's most inspired engineers and farsighted entrepreneurs as a “farewell to a master of press engineering.”

The English edition contains a supplement with an extremely useful glossary on printing inks – not only for printers, but also for sales staff, purchasers and other industry decision-makers. The article explains the relevant terminology, effects, applications, interactions, and test methods.
