Hammer Packaging leads industry with new KBA 64-inch eight-color press

Press release from the issuing company

Hammer Packaging has installed a new KBA Rapida 64-inch sheetfed press plus coater,  offering expanded automation and increased flexibility.  This installation of asecond large-format (64-inch) offset press adds significantly to our array of 64, 56, and 40 inch presses, making Hammer  the only packaging printer in North America with this type of press configuration.

In addition, this KBA press offers 8-colors, accommodating the growing trend towards using more colors in packaging decoration. "Most other packaging printers predominately have six-color presses", explains Jim Hammer, President and CEO.  "We've found that our customers will design their label utilizing all eight colors.  This puts us further ahead of our competitors".

KBA's lightweight paper package is especially important because our customers are trying to shed as much weight as possible on their product to reduce costs and gain sustainability benefits.  The KBA Densitronic Professional spectrophotometer color control system is used on all of our presses and allows us to easily repeat customer jobs thus allowing us to shorten customer run lengths, while keeping their inventories low.

Beyond our expanded press range and capacity, Hammer has a competitive advantage in the finishing area.  Our cutting, sortation and collation technology has evolved to the highest levels of efficiency due to several custom innovations that Hammer has developed over its many years as a C&S market leader.
