August 26th, 2008 – Turkey's largest newspaper publisher, Hürriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik A.?. – part of the Do?an Yayin Holding Group – has placed an order with Goss International for the country's first Goss Uniliner double-width press. The order follows the announcement last week that the company is to undertake a major refurbishment project at its Istanbul facility. The new five-tower press will increase color capacity at its Istanbul facility by 20 percent.

The investment has been made due to an increase in the requirement for high-quality color in daily newspaper titles and will enhance the Istanbul production facility to meet both current and future requirements. For colorful editorial and vivid color printing across a range of daily titles, as well as a number of supplements, a high quality solution was required to keep the company competitive and in the number one position with both advertisers and readers, according to a spokesperson at Do?an Yayin Holding.

Do?an Yayin Holding publishes and prints ten daily titles including Hürriyet, Milliyet, Posta, Radikal, Referans and Fanatik with a combined circulation of 2,250,000 per day.

Do?an Yayin Holding states that the existing Goss presses operated within the Group have performed very well over the past 16 years providing outstanding print quality. Goss International has worked closely with Dogan Group to understand the company's needs, and together they have produced a completely flexible solution that is well proven in the marketplace.

The five tower 75,000 cph 4 x 2 shaftless Uniliner press, with six load bearing reelstands, has been specified with a range of features to ensure higher quality output, faster job turnaround and lower makeready waste. These include:

- High speed, environmentally friendly blanket wash-up
- Automatic color and cut-off control
- OPCS level 3 press controls
- Advanced job and presetting capability
- Spray bar dampening

A 2:5:5/2:3:3 double-couple folder is also specified to give the ultimate flexibility for producing two separate products at the same time. The new press, with a web width of 1520 mm, will be capable of printing up to 48 pages with 32 pages in four color and 16 pages in spot color.
