CHICAGO - Oct. 1, 2007 - R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company announced today that it has been recognized with a prestigious award as part of the Metro Global Creative Awards 2007 in Ireland. The "I wish it could be Christmas every day" campaign executed for leading mobile services provider 02 has been voted by Metro readers as the top ranking advertisement in the "Best Creative Format" category.
The winning campaign will now represent Ireland at the Metro Creative Award ceremony competing against twenty other countries from four continents.
Dave Furney, General Manager for RR Donnelley in Ireland said, "We are delighted to have this campaign chosen by the readers of the Metro newspaper. I am very proud of the team working on behalf of 02 and of this recognition. It is a testimony to their creative excellence and to their deep understanding of 02's value proposition. Our design team has been working with 02 since August 2003 as part of a long term multi-service outsourcing relationship which includes design, print management and full logistics services. By having our staff on-site full-time working very closely with the 02 marketing team we have been able to translate their key marketing messages into a winning design concept."
Emer McCarthy, Senior Brand and Marketing Communications Executive with O2 Ireland, explained how the close teamwork between RR Donnelley and O2 has produced such positive results. "This campaign was a success due to RR Donnelley's pure dedication and understanding of the O2 account. Their on-site presence means they fully understand our requirements, work ethic and timeframes. To us, they're more than just a provider of print related services; they're an essential part of the Marketing department. The team at RR Donnelley worked tightly with O2 and fully understood the need for O2 to display our Christmas collection without compromising on a creative execution. The design team at RR Donnelley is second to none and we're delighted that Metro has recognized them with this award."
Mr. Furney added, "We are extremely pleased to be representing Ireland at the forthcoming global awards ceremony."
