RR Donnelley Produces Award-Winning Media Kit for Hanley Wood

CHICAGO, Nov. 29 -- R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company today announced that it had produced the media kit for Hanley Wood publication Builder magazine that took top honors at American Business Media's inaugural Media Kit Awards. This media kit was one of 18 that RR Donnelley produced for Hanley Wood titles. Having earlier signed a multi-year agreement to print 100% of Hanley Wood's business-to-business magazines, RR Donnelley committed to find additional ways to help Hanley Wood streamline its manufacturing processes, reduce its cycle times and minimize costs. The consolidated production of the 18 media kits at State Printing, an RR Donnelley company, in Columbia, SC was successful in each of these areas. Completely digital workflow linking four creative agencies, Hanley Wood and RR Donnelley as well as standardized file formats and proofing protocols enabled the rapid turn-around times that this project required. Paper, tabs, pockets and binding were all standardized for brand consistency and cost reduction. Staccato screening printed with process inks eliminated the need for spot colors that had historically been used. RR Donnelley was also able to leverage its logistics expertise to ship the finished products more cost effectively than they had been in the past. Hanley Wood's media kits had previously been produced at three different printers, driving a longer production schedule, occupying more of Hanley Wood's process management time and resulting in a higher total cost.
