Trio of Kodak Solutions Opens Doors to New Markets for Georgia Label Printer

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 20 - Equipped with a new Kodak Matchprint Inkjet proofing solution, Kodak Thermoflex Narrow platesetter and Kodak Prinergy Powerpack workflow system, ProLabel, Inc., a leader in the label industry, can now produce quality high end work with increased productivity to meet tight deadlines. These high value benefits have translated to new business opportunities for the Georgia printer specializing in prepress and production of pressure sensitive labels. "An integrated workflow was key in our decision making process," said ProLabel's Chief Operating Officer Sean Carty. "Our previous system pulled together equipment from a handful of different vendors. With our trio of Kodak solutions, we now have a production process that allows us to handle a higher quality of work and more complex jobs with a faster turnaround, which at the end of the day has opened doors to new high value markets." The Kodak Matchprint Inkjet Desktop proofing solution brings the next level of workflow connectivity and color precision to drop on demand (DOD) inkjet proofing. The Matchprint Inkjet proofing solution is the first DOD proofing solution to be based on powerful Kodak developed software, including innovative screening and calibration technologies, and a new Certified Process for Color Confirmation. Customers benefit from excellent color accuracy, enhanced image smoothness, quick calibration tools and direct connectivity to Kodak workflow solutions. "We've seen significant improvements in quality from a prepress and production standpoint," added Carty. "A proof on the new system matches up to the final printed piece. The new equipment allows us to expand beyond basic four color, linear work and produce more sophisticated jobs with spot colors, vignettes and other special effects." Kodak Thermoflex platesetters with Kodak Hyperflex Ready imaging technology allow flexo platemakers to control relief depth and dot profiles, enabling more consistent presswork and improved print quality. Together, the Thermoflex device and Kodak Prinergy Powerpack workflow system create a predictable and reliable manufacturing process that automates steps, reduces errors and streamlines operations. "The actual production time from when we receive the artwork to when we output a job has been reduced by 45 percent," said Carty. "That's a new level of productivity in our digital workflow that ensures we meet our customers' deadlines." ProLabel, a $12 million company, has been in business since 1989. The firm's 40 employees handle prepress and production for food and beverage, health and beauty, and chemical industries. Kodak products are backed by Kodak Service and Support, Kodak's worldwide service organization. Named Best Support Organization at the 2006 International Business Awards, Kodak Service and Support includes more than 3,000 professionals in 120 countries. These professionals are fully qualified to help customers control costs, maximize productivity, and minimize business risk.
