Press release from the issuing company

PARIS--Sept. 20, 2006-- EFI today announced the addition of the VUTEk QS3200 to its newest family of UV-curing digital inkjet printers -- opening the door to wider printing applications and increased profitability for EFI customers. The VUTEk QS3200 joins the VUTEk QS2000 in a new category of printers that combine EFI's production and workflow management technologies with the market-leading digital print capabilities of its VUTEk superwide format printers. The VUTEk QS family of printers from EFI will be demonstrated today to the general public for the first time at the VISCOM trade show at the Paris Expo Center, and showcased at the SGIA trade show in Las Vegas, Nev., September 26-29. "The marketplace for 3.2 meter, UV superwide printers is experiencing significant growth worldwide. The VUTEk QS3200 delivers the highest possible image quality without the traditional trade-off in productivity for Point-Of-Purchase displays, signs and banners," said Robert W. Raus, Jr., vice president of VUTEk marketing for EFI. "The 3.2 meter VUTEk QS3200 superwide printer is packed with the same combination of High Definition Print (HDP) technology and high production speeds found in the recently announced VUTEk QS2000 printer, making it the ideal choice for larger print shops with applications bigger than the recently announced VUTEk QS2000 can produce." Recognizing customer needs for wider printer widths, the VUTEk QS3200 printer offers superior image quality on both rigid and flexible substrates up to 126 inches (3.2 meters) wide and up to two inches (5.08 cm) thick, offering customers the opportunity for increased profit through a greater range of applications and services. Additionally, it features the ability to change between rigid and flexible substrates in less than one minute to produce output up to 900 square feet (84 square meters) per hour -- or up to 22 - 4' x 8' boards per hour -- allowing users to meet demanding turn-around times while producing greater quantities of high quality product than ever before. Chicago-based P+R Group Inc. is currently beta testing the VUTEk QS3200. Craig Sigele, president of P+R, said, "The new VUTEK QS3200 produces great quality output at terrific speeds, and requires little maintenance. There is no more waiting around for the RIP to finish. The print is completed before you even walk around to the other side of the machine, and the image quality is impressive." Key features of the VUTEk QS family of printers include: -- High Definition Print comprised of: -- Print resolutions up to 1080 dpi -- Proprietary VUTEk image smoothing technologies -- Brilliant six-color imaging and a special seventh white ink channel for new and creative applications -- EFI Fiery(R) XF image processing -- The ability to print white ink in six different variations, including overprint, underprint, spot, underspot, fill and overspot, to provide new and nearly limitless application possibilities. -- Crisp, clear, four-point text to satisfy customers who demand the highest image quality for close viewing of applications such as Point-Of-Purchase advertising displays. EFI offers the VUTEk QS printer family with the EFI Fiery XF production RIP or optional Colorburst RIP. EFI Fiery XF delivers high productivity and excellent color management today and allows the integration of additional business processes in the future through the extensive and proven EFI portfolio of software workflow products. Other unique productivity features of the VUTEk QS printers include a feed-side control module to eliminate wasted operator steps by initiating print from both sides of printer, and a multi-job layout function through the VUTEk graphic user interface that allows users to combine separate jobs into one print run, reducing costly substrate waste. In addition, valuable floor space is saved by being able to perform roll-to-roll and rigid printing on one machine.
