GMG donates color proofing system to Ryerson University, Toronto
Press release from the issuing company
Toronto, Canada - Oct 15, 2007 - Ryerson University to conduct research on SWOP and GRACoL proofing solutions following donation of GMG ColorProof o4 from GMG Americas, MA.
The School of Graphic Communications Management at Ryerson University has received a generous donation from GMG for research in proofing and color management. GMG has donated software that includes its flagship product, GMG ColorProof, which has consistently produced excellent results at the IPA Color Proofing RoundUPs, events overseen by Dr Abhay Sharma of Ryerson University. The donation also includes GMG DotProof to generate contract quality halftone proofs and GMG FlexoProof, tailored to the specific needs of the packaging industry. The contribution enables Ryerson University to train and educate students and researchers, and to initiate industrial investigations and evaluations for the printing industry. Of particular significance is the ability to use GMG ColorProof to create GRACoL and SWOP proofing scenarios.
The Heidelberg School of Graphic Communications Management is housed in a new 30,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art press and prepress facility in downtown Toronto. The School offers a BTech in Graphic Communications Management and has an enrolment of 400 undergraduate students at the undergraduate level. The School offers the only 4-year graphic arts degree program in Canada. The reputation of the school ensures 100% internship placement and 100% employment of students on graduation.
GMG specializes in high-end color management solutions. Today, more than 10,000 systems have been sold across the graphic arts industry spectrum from ad agencies, prepress houses and offset printers to newspapers, flexo converters and international gravure printing plants-where, in Europe, the GMG ColorProof system is the de-facto standard. At Graph Expo 07, GMG recently launched 'GRACoL in a Box' for $150, a one-month trial that proves GMG ColorProof offers the easiest way for printers to install-within an hour-and use a GRACoL and SWOP certified proofing system. GMG's other products include GMG ColorServer and GMG ProofControl for instant, color-accurate verification of proofs. GMG Media is a range of proofing-specific papers and films for the most popular inkjet printers.
GMG Americas President, Jim Summers says, "We are pleased to support Ryerson University's color management research programs though the donation of software from GMG's product portfolio. Ryerson is the preeminent Canadian graphic arts education institution, and we welcome the opportunity to expand the research, teaching and knowledge platforms they offer."
