Oce Leads in Production Roll-Fed Digital Printing in the United States

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL , June 6, 2005 -- Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, is the 2004 production roll-fed digital printer placement leader in the United States according to 2004 market share statistics published by InfoTrends/CAP Ventures. The company also held the top spot in 2003, the first year that InfoTrends/CAP Ventures began publishing market share for this category. InfoTrends/CAP Ventures reported that Océ leads with its roll-fed printer product line in the United States with a 2004 share of 48 percent. "Océ's reputation for dependable, high-quality continuous-feed printers is well-deserved," said Charlie Corr, group director, InfoTrends/CAP Ventures. "They lead the combined U.S. monochrome and spot color production roll-fed market. Though we only began publishing production roll-fed market share recently, we have been tracking this market for nearly a decade. We believe that Océ has been on top of this category since the late 1990s." Mal Baboyian, President, Digital Document Systems, Océ North America, attributes the success to the company's two main pillars: its high level of customer satisfaction and its commitment to continuous innovation. Since the inception of the ultra high volume printing industry, Océ has pioneered concepts like duplex printing on a twin engine and CustomTone Special toner colors, providing Océ customers with higher level of productivity. "We build Océ VarioStream 7000 products to be the industry's most flexible, robust and productive," he said. "With a quick, easy change, these machines can add MICR, spot color or CustomTone Special, or switch between 300 and 600 dpi resolution. Most recently, Océ has reaffirmed its technology leadership with the introduction of a new ultra-high volume printing platform, the Océ VarioStream 9000. This unique technology provides high-quality black-and-white in one duplexing, CustomTone capable engine. This new technology is the ideal workhorse to implement the convergence concept: producing traditional data center and Graphic Arts applications in one workflow. Especially when paired with the Océ PRISMATM workflow software, features like these give our customers superior productivity and outstanding total cost of ownership." Baboyian cited a 2003 total cost of ownership study by analysts at International Data Corporation that shows Océ leading in 5 of the 6 reported categories.
