Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, Aug. 2 -- R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company has been awarded multi-year contracts from both The McGraw Hill Companies and Penguin Group (USA) to extend their existing book manufacturing agreements. In the aggregate, the combined term value of these contracts is expected to exceed $500 million across a wide range of products and services. RR Donnelley has been successfully doing business with these publishers for several decades. The McGraw-Hill Companies, a premier global provider of educational materials and professional information, addresses virtually every aspect of the education market from pre-K through professional learning, while Penguin Group (USA) Inc. is the U.S. affiliate of the internationally renowned Penguin Group, the second-largest English-language trade book publisher in the world. Bruce Ryno, Senior Vice President - Global Procurement & Manufacturing, The McGraw-Hill Companies, stated, "The quality, reliability and flexibility that RR Donnelley has consistently demonstrated throughout our 50 year relationship leaves us confident that they are the right partner for us for the future. They clearly know our marketplace as well as they know us, and their focus on enabling us to meet our customers' evolving needs has contributed to our mutual success." David Shanks, CEO Penguin Group (USA), stated, "RR Donnelley has been there for us on a daily basis for over 25 years, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to extend our relationship with them. The flexibility that comes from the strength of their manufacturing platform allows us to remain highly responsive to our customers, and that has real, tangible value for us." John Paloian, Group President, Publishing & Retail Services, RR Donnelley, added, "RR Donnelley takes great pride in the strength of our key customer relationships and we view them as being critical to our own success. They exemplify the true meaning of 'partnerships,' in which both parties work together to actively contribute to each other's growth and success. We feel that when major, decades-long customers decide to extend our relationships, then we have clearly found a formula that works. We are very excited by the McGraw-Hill Education and Penguin Group (USA) contract extensions, and look forward to working with each of them in finding new ways to achieve their business goals."
