KODAK Proofing Software Enhances Performance for Package Printing Market

Press release from the issuing company

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY, June 1 -Kodak unveils new features for KODAK Proofing Software, one of the key components of Kodak's complete proofing portfolio. These new features make it easier for package printers and converters to proof using inkjet printers. The newest version of the software, which drives popular inkjet proofing devices as well as the KODAK APPROVAL Digital Color Imaging System, now will also drive the new EPSON STYLUS Pro 7900 and 9900 Printers for wider gamut printing. Also, packaging customers will be able to access all the tools needed to achieve accurate color proofs easily and reliably for a wide range of color spaces, right out of the box.

KODAK Proofing Software is Kodak's RIP software application that drives Kodak's range of halftone and inkjet proofing systems. With KODAK Proofing Software, customers can use a single software interface to achieve optimal proofing on both the KODAK APPROVAL System and leading inkjet printers used for imposition, intermediate, and contract proofing. KODAK Proofing Software's integration with KODAK Workflow Systems and output devices allows for fewer production steps, and maintains file and color integrity throughout the workflow.

For the first time, Kodak will show its new Skew Correction System for double sided imposition proofing. This new software feature provides front to back registration typically to within 1 mm and works with Kodak's double sided media guide for EPSON Printers to help ensure customers can achieve more precise imposition proofs with less wasted media and in less time. Additionally, Kodak unveils its new iterative calibration feature for improved color consistency.

"The increasingly complex demands for color proofing in the global package printing segment drive the enhancements to KODAK Proofing Software," said John Cross, General Manager, Packaging Products, Prepress Solutions, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group. "The new features in version 4.0 are designed to help users achieve the best possible halftone or inkjet color proofs right out of the box, no matter what the color or substrate."
