KBA 74 Karat Offers Differentiation and Flexibility to Color K Graphics in Miami

Press release from the issuing company

April 29, 2005 -- KBA North America, a leading sheetfed offset press manufacturer based in Williston, Vt., is announcing that Color K Graphics, a full service commercial printer based in Miami, installed a KBA 74 Karat digital offset press in November 2004. “The installation of the KBA 74 Karat is allowing us to produce jobs that we couldn’t produce before and allowing us to produce all of our work in the U.S.,” says Daniel Korzeniewski, director of Color K Graphics. “Our customers who have seen the press are quite impressed with its quality and speed. We’re able to produce very high quality 200 line screen work on the Karat. Plus, the Karat offers us flexibility in substrate use. We can use a thicker stock on the Karat to produce presentation folders that we were not able to do in the past and we can use ordinary substrates to produce newsletters and magazines.” Inline coater and larger sheet size boost productivity The 74 Karat also boasts an inline coater and a larger sheet size that Color K did not have before. Not only does the inline coater allow the company to add a protective varnish to its work, but it allows Color K to move work faster from the press to the finishing area. In addition, the 74 Karat’s larger sheet size of 20.5 x 29-inch allows Color K to produce more work with one-pass productivity than its smaller 13 x 18-inch digital presses. Since the installation of the Karat, the firm has been so busy that Korzeniewski feels in a few months, the 74 Karat will be on a two-shift schedule. To maintain this level of production, Color K is planning an open house in late February/early March of 2005. Serving South Florida and Caribbean markets Color K Graphics is a 12-year-old full service digital and offset printing firm serving the southern Florida and Caribbean marketplace. Four years ago the company opened a 14-employee 4,100 sq ft facility in Miami near the airport. Dedicated to short-run high-quality printing, the firm employs both offset and digital press technology. The company produces brochures, newsletters, postcards, catalogs, posters, folders, stationery, and packaging for ad agencies, local designers, and corporations. KBA North America is a leading supplier of sheetfed offset and digital presses located in Williston, VT. It is a member of the KBA Group, a leader in the manufacture of sheetfed offset, digital offset, web offset, rotogravure directory, security, and newspaper presses.
