Concepta web presses at MAR Graphics

Press release from the issuing company

April 08, 2008 -- "The Conceptas have out-produced our other UV equipped presses by 50%, with improved ink coverage and higher color quality," states Rick Roever, President of MAR Graphics, in explaining what two Muller Martini Concepta variable size web offset presses have meant to his business.  "The two Concepta presses give us the ability to print color direct mail and other documents with quick make-ready, fast color roll up, very tight color registration and increased run speeds."

MAR Graphics, a 97-employee shop located in Valmeyer, Illinois, is a trade printer that in addition to direct mail produces integrated cards and labels, security documents, traditional forms and several other kinds of products.  A 10-color Muller Martini Concepta press went into operation at MAR Graphics in 2006 and this past November MAR installed another Concepta, this one configured for 6 colors.  "The Muller Martini Conceptas are an addition to our other UV equipped presses. Our Conceptas are equipped with CIP3 and can produce 25 micron stochastic screens at speeds up to 1,200 feet per minute," continues Mr. Roever.

Beside the increases in production performance MAR Graphics has gained since commissioning the Concepta web presses, there are other important reasons why MAR chose Concepta printing technology, including the potential to increase sales, and, the confidence that comes with being able to depend on the machines day in and day out.  "The Conceptas have opened up other print markets," says Rick Roever.  Plus, "Muller Martini has a reputation in the marketplace for innovation, high quality and superior engineering."

The Muller Martini Concepta variable size web offset press has a technologically superior ink train that ensures uniform ink coverage over the entire speed range.  Furthermore,  Concepta features a versatile modular design, offering the capabilities of up to 12 offset printing units and the integration of flexo and digital printing, as well as various in-line finishing options such as die cutting and perforating.  The Concepta comes standard with Muller Martini's patent-pending, fully integrated and fully JDF/JMF compliant MRS automatic make-ready system.  Concepta can preset such essentials as register and ink fountain profiles without prompting – enabling operators to complete other tasks while the machine's unique "artificial intelligence" takes care of the basics and handles set-ups for both new and repeat jobs automatically.  The Concepta web press runs at up to 1,200 feet per minute, has a 20-1/2" web width, and can handle repeat lengths ranging from 14" to 28-1/3".
