July 21, 2004 -- IPA, the Association of Graphic Solutions Providers, is pleased to announce that Kenneth W. Lowden has been awarded IPA’s most prestigious honor, the Leonard Holzinger Award. The award was given in recognition and appreciation of Lowden’s distinguished leadership and unselfish contribution of time, talent, and energy toward the substantial progress of the IPA and the industry it serves. Lowden, who was marketing and industry relations manager for DuPont Imaging Technologies, prior to his retirement in June 2004, has been dynamic in his efforts toward the growth and development of the IPA and the graphic communication industry as a whole. His leadership and service have significantly contributed to the advancement of printing and publishing during a time of extraordinary change. Lowden has actively participated in and contributed to industry activities encompassing everything from new technology implementation to educational endeavors and management concerns. As a member of the IPA Board of Directors for many years, Lowden took board membership to a new level, always going above and beyond what was expected of him. His commitment to the advancement of IPA and its members has had a profound impact on the organization. His leadership has helped IPA focus its resources on issues that matter and has resulted in the Association prospering in an ever-changing environment. Mike Danz, past chairman of IPA, remarked, “Ken is one of those truly generous individuals who has embraced the importance of serving the industry on every level possible. His polite and gregarious nature has always made it easy for so many of us to seek out his expertise and assistance. IPA is a much stronger Association because of his involvement. It is with great pleasure we express our congratulations to a terrific individual and a good friend.” Lowden was with DuPont for 35 of his almost 40 years in the industry. Beginning his career at DuPont in technical services, he served in sales, accounting and business analysis, marketing, sales management, Cyrel business management, and training. He was a major force in developing most of the DuPont film programs and he was actively involved in planning and implementing DuPont’s restructuring of their proofing division. Lowden’s involvement doesn’t stop with IPA. He has served on the boards of GATF/PIA, NAPL, Print and Graphics Association International, Vue/Point, Web Offset Association, SWOP Review Committee, GCA, and FTA. He was chairman of the FTA 2004 Annual Forum, the largest packaging event in North America, and led the design and production of a unique FTA marketing tool to promote the strengths and benefits of flexography in packaging printing. Lowden’s long-standing contribution to the industry was honored in 2000 with his election to the Walter E. Soderstrom Society. Within DuPont, he was recognized in 2001 with the DuPont Marketing Excellence Award in North America.
