Winners for Color Proofing announced at GMG Annual Awards Dinner

Tuebingen, Germany – December 12, 2002 – GMG, a leading developer of high-end professional color management proofing systems, announced on the 5th December, the winners of the recently launched annual ’GMG Excellence Awards’, designed to encourage companies to produce the best proof/print representation using GMG ColorProof. GMG ColorProof is a highly accurate way of calibrating a digital inkjet proofing engine to produce digital contract color proofs, precisely color-matched to the actual printing press. The new DotProof option for GMG ColorProof enables the output of digital halftone contract-proofs complete with original screen data on Epson and Hewlett-Packard large format ink-jet printers With the opportunity to win fabulous prizes for their work for best proof output, there was a high level of entries and competition was fierce. Judges of the proof and final print entries included: J.P.Homann, Author of the book ‘Digital Colour Management’; Juergen Seitz, Application Specialist at GMG Weihing and Eric Boehnisch, deputy Chief Editor of Publishing Praxis. The first prize, a Gretag ’Eye-One Pro spectrophotometer’ (donated by Gretag Macbeth AG), was awarded to Ahauser Tiefdruck – Gravuren GmbH & Co KG, and second prize, an Apple i-POD MP3 Player (donated by CLC Nord GmbH), went to Apitzsch Proof GmbH. There were two third-prize winners; Janoschka GmbH & Co.KG and Peter Becker GmbH each being awarded a Fuji FinePix A 201 Digital Camera (donated by Fuji Photo Film, Europe GmbH) and finally a special prize for best GMG/ColorManager proof using PictroProof of a Fuji FinePix F501 Zoom (also donated by Fuji Photo Film (Europe) GmbH) made to Recom GmbH. Heiner Mueller, Sales and Marketing Director, GMG says "The GMG excellence awards created a huge amount of interest with numerous entrants taking part, proving it to be a very successful annual event. It has also provided GMG with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to producing color management tools that meet the requirements of today’s professional printers within the graphic arts industry".
