KBA Donates Funds to UNICEF, Supporting School Projects in Former War Zones

Press release from the issuing company

December 16, 2002 -- In place of Christmas gifts to customers, KBA is donating €5,000 ($5,000) to a UNICEF project, “A Better World for Children”, which seeks to improve the lot of poverty-stricken children in 160 countries, and prevent their exploitation. The donation specifically supports an education programme aimed at teaching basic reading and writing skills to children in former war zones like Afghanistan and Angola. Many are traumatised by having been forced to fight as soldiers. The scheme helps to give them a perspective and a fresh start in life. UNICEF has set up classrooms in camps and the more isolated villages, distributed textbooks and exercise books, and is also helping to build new schools.
