La Razon Implements Quark Publishing System 7.4

Press release from the issuing company

DENVER - 09-22-2008 Today Quark announced that La Razon (www.la-razon.com), the leading daily newspaper in La Paz, Bolivia, has implemented Quark Publishing System (QPS) 7.4 to improve the newspaper's editorial workflow. La Razon chose QPS 7.4 for its ability to streamline the way publishers, editors, and reporters work together to ensure the advanced production of timely news. Also, La Razon embraces the future of dynamic publishing and with QPS 7.4 is setting the stage to take advantage of multi-channel publishing opportunities in the future.

"QPS is the most advanced editorial workflow technology available today. It has allowed us to create 'virtual editing rooms,' meaning, our writers can submit a story to their editors from anywhere in the world, our editors can review the articles directly in QPS, and I can publish the news knowing that the entire process was contained within a single workflow system," said Juan Carlos Rocha, Director of La Razon. "Our readers benefit because we can publish news quickly and accurately."

In order to implement QPS 7.4 in less than one month, including training, La Razon worked with Dalai Inc., a system integrator with 18 years of experience implementing production and editorial workflows in the United States and Latin America. During the implementation of QPS 7.4, Dalai Inc. hosted La Razon to facilities in Monterrey, Mexico, for training.

"QPS 7.4 is a perfect solution for La Razon. Our installation and training process was well planned and executed quickly to get them publishing with the new system as soon as possible," said Juan Aguirre, CEO, for Dalai Inc. "We work very well with Quark and look forward to performing many future implementations of their leading publishing workflow technology."

Edgar Calani, IT Manager for La Razon said, "The transition to QPS 7.4 was incredibly smooth. We consider the entire implementation process a huge success because at the end of one month we were in production. The help and training with Quark and Dalai to identify the right workflow was very important."

"Our work with La Razon is significant as it is the first adoption of QPS 7.4 in Latin America," said Javier Vargas, Director of Latin America for Quark. "It supports our focus on Latin America as a key region of market opportunity and we look forward to our continued work with La Razon."

More than 70 La Razon editors use QPS 7.4, which includes QuarkXPress Server, QuarkXPress, QuarkCopyDesk, QPS Web Hub, and QPS Script Manager. To learn more about QPS, please visit http://dynamicpublishing.quark.com/qps/.
