Rochester, New York – Kodak is excited to announce the first European sale of the KODAK PROSPER ULTRA 520 Press. SDV Group, headquartered in Dresden, Germany, has chosen Kodak's groundbreaking inkjet web press to start a new era of digital printing in their business segment. SDV is a 1-to-1 marketing and omnichannel marketing provider that produces and delivers more than 250 million personalized and individualized direct mail pieces per year.

Powered by KODAK ULTRASTREAM Inkjet Technology and using water-based KODACHROME Inks, the PROSPER ULTRA 520 Press will help SDV take its digital and variable printing capabilities to the next level. The press delivers outstanding, offset-quality print at speeds up to 152 mpm (500 fpm). Operating at top speed and resolution for all supported paper weights and grades, PROSPER ULTRA 520 provides the highest image quality.

“The PROSPER ULTRA 520 Press, with its particular combination of stunning output quality and high productivity, is the right solution for a large proportion of our jobs. The press will help us drive the automation of our printing process and the reduction of our postpress processes substantially,” said Sven Schmöle, CEO of SDV Group. “We will print a wide variety of personalized direct mail applications on the PROSPER ULTRA 520 and also use it for versioning jobs and short-run commercial work.” Jochen Schreib, SDV’s Head of Central Services, added: “Our new digital press from Kodak will enable us to produce client jobs much faster and more efficiently, will increase the paper efficiency, and establish a more sustainable digital manufacturing.”

“After the successful completion of drupa, we are pleased to announce the first European customer for our revolutionary press. SDV is a leading German direct mail marketing company that will tremendously benefit from the application and quality advantages of our revolutionary inkjet press,” commented Jim Continenza, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Kodak.

Installation of the KODAK PROSPER ULTRA 520 Press at SDV’s subsidiary SDV Winter GmbH in Weidenberg, Bavaria, is scheduled for Q3 2024.
