Willamette Falls Paper Company Expands Manufacturing Capacity to Meet Demand for Coated Freesheet Paper

Press release from the issuing company

West Linn, Oregon – This month marks a new milestone for paper production for Willamette Falls Paper Company (WFPC). On October 1, WFPC expanded its capacity on a third paper machine to manufacture additional coated freesheet paper.

Previously only running at 50% capacity, this paper machine is now operating at 100% capacity to meet customer demand. This has increased our ability to produce additional tons of 60# and 70# text, as well as a new higher yield 75# Sonoma® coated grade.

Willamette Falls Paper Company is the only US-owned coated freesheet producer in the West. We have increased production to supply market needs for our core coated and uncoated products. The mill now has three machines running at full capacity to manufacture coated freesheet 45# text to 80# cover, gloss, matte and dull grades, and 50# to 80# uncoated grades.

“Our mill has always been known for nimble manufacturing and flexible, quick turn times,” said President, Brian Konen. “We now operate all three machines, with the ability to cross-over to manufacture a range of basis weights on more than one machine, offering greater flexibility than mills that operate only one machine.”

Due to challenging market conditions, raw materials supply chain issues and labor shortages, the Company was unable to get to full capacity over the past year. Now, the mill is fully staffed for production on all machines, providing tons of paper that were not available to customers six months ago.
