Taghleef Industries as Finalist for Packaging Europe’s 2022 Sustainability Awards together with Gerosa Group

Press release from the issuing company

Taghleef Industries is a finalist for the category Recyclable Packaging (Pre-Commercialized) at The Sustainability Awards 2022, the world's most prestigious competition for sustainable packaging innovation organized by Packaging Europe, with a BOPP, high barrier 4-side sealed sachet developed in collaboration with Gerosa Group.

The packaging solution proposed aims to replace multi-material structures made of PET/Alu/PE or PET/metPET/PE in applications such as dry powder products or dressing sauces.

The innovative structure has important advantages in terms of recyclability and unit weight reduction, providing good performances in terms of product protection, thanks to the use of EXTENDO® XZMX ultra-high barrier film. Furthermore, the packaging offers performing sealing properties and tear propagation for convenient packaging opening. The BOPP structure is designed to meet Minimum Recyclability Criteria which is part of the German Packaging Law VerpackG (Verpackungsgesetz – Packaging Act)

The solution developed by Taghleef Industries and Gerosa Group was selected from 360 submissions from across the global packaging value chain by an expert jury of leading brand owners and retailers, sustainability organizations, waste management, universities, and industry experts. Each year, the Sustainability Awards adapt to changes in the sustainable innovation landscape and see more and more partnerships involved, evaluating entries from global startups and brands with the same carefully considered criteria.
