Graphco Develops Printing Press-Based Cryptocurrency  (April Fools 2022 Edition)

Press release from the issuing company

Recognizing the growth of an opportunities in cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin, Chris Manley at Graphco has devised a coin miner that uses regenerative energy from a printing press to mint cryptocurrency. Called Printcoin, it was designed to allow print businesses to take advantage of press downtime—be it during makeready, job changes, or what have you—to enter into the new world of crypto. “It essentially allows the press to ‘make-money between make-ready,’” Manley said. It also uses on-board software in the DFE to “mine” Printcoins by solving the complex mathematical problems that produce the coins, with the first press that solves a particular problem receives the first block of Printcoins, and thus starts the process anew.
