ASL Print FX and Their MPS EF SYMJET ‘Powered by Domino’ Hybrid Press

Press release from the issuing company

ASL Print FX is a premier supplier of pressure sensitive labels with three locations: Napa, California; Toronto, Ontario; and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As described on the homepage of their website, ‘For over 50 years, ASL Print FX has been Trusted to Bring your Brand Vision to Shelf.’

We recently caught up with Travis Pollard (Vice President & General Manager – Napa, California) and Stacy Daly (Vice President & General Manager – Toronto, Ontario) to learn more about their business, the benefits realized since adding flexo/digital hybrid printing to their arsenal in December 2018, and why they chose MPS & Domino. They also shared some exciting news about what’s next for their company.

Tell me about ASL Print FX.
“All Stick Label Ltd., our original name back in 1965, was built on the business of pressure sensitive labels, promotional and package printing. In our first years of operation, we were pushing the envelope through innovation and teamwork. We work with brand owners to solve problems with creative solutions. We connect consumers with brands and turn shoppers into buyers. This culture permeates throughout our company to this day. In an industry once defined by limitations, ASL Print FX is using its technical capability to create new possibilities,” says Pollard.

What are the key objectives for your company?
“Our key objectives center around continued growth of our business. We are looking to expand deeper into the markets we currently serve,” says Pollard.

Describe the labels that ASL Print FX produces, and the markets served.
“ASL Print FX specializes in prime labels. Our experience in the wine & spirits markets allows us migrate innovations to different markets across the spectrum. Our tactile embellishments produce stunning effects that make the product stand out on the shelf. Other segments that ASL Print FX works within are food & beverage, health & beauty, packaged goods, on pack promotional and envelopes,” says Pollard.

What are your customers’ label needs, requirements, and expectations?
“In all of our markets our customers deserve the highest quality print produced by a team of specialists paying attention to the smallest details to produce the highest quality product. Our customers demand high quality labels and rely on tight timelines to meet labeling dates. They require communication and a high level of customer service. Most importantly, they require a printer that works with them closely, as partners, to elevate their brand within the budget,” says Pollard.

What does ASL PRINT FX do different and better than anyone else?
“We are different because of our culture of innovation, highly trained and knowledgeable workforce, and technology.
We believe that surrounding great people with new technologies enveloped in a package of service is a great recipe that is hard to compete with. People, technology, service,” says Pollard.

Why was the MPS EF SYMJET ‘powered by Domino’ hybrid press added to the business?
“When we looked at starting up our facility in Napa, we looked at multiple technologies and platforms. We knew that hybrid presses combine the best of digital and analog printing. It’s a total solution that gives many options, and both Domino and MPS have outstanding reputations for quality,” says Daly.

What benefits have the MPS-Domino press provided?
Daly continues, “Easy color correction, single-pass production. And the press allows us versatility to compete in several markets at the same time.”

What is most surprising to you about this press?
“The versatility of the press and the unlimited possibilities,” says Daly.

ASL PRINT FX won a first place TLMI Award in 2020. Tell me about that.
Pollard says, “The TLMI Award was for Anarchist Wine Company and the brand is 15 Minutes of Fame – designed by Jenny Doll from San Francisco. A lot of hard work went into brand development, and the Domino played key role in the various iterations before the final design was complete.”

Service & Support are always critical. Describe Domino from a Service & Support standpoint.
“Tom Grencik (Domino Digital Print North America Service Manager) and his team are first class in every way. The support we have received has been outstanding.”

What is most important that you want your customers & prospects to know about ASL PRINT FX?
Stacy Daly says, “Our customers and prospects should know that we are here to help them through the whole process. We encourage them to bring us in early on the project and use our services to get the most out of their design. They should know that dealing with ASL is a partnership, we are in this together. We value communication, cooperation, and we share the same end-goal.”

So, what’s next for ASL Print FX?
With the exciting continuous success at their Napa, California location and the benefits realized of having Domino digital printing in their arsenal, they have recently purchased a Domino N610i digital UV inkjet label press for their Toronto, Ontario location to be installed in September 2021.
