Hidden Labor Costs of Bad Data

The level of trust you have in the data in your Print MIS impacts all aspects of your business. When printers get their Print MIS to be “trustworthy,” they can move a whole lot faster, with less labor costs, and be more responsive to the never-ending request for more data from all stakeholders in your business.

There is one thing that every print business owner wants: accurate data about their business. We should really think about Print MIS solutions as the container for your business data model (how you structure/organize the data about your business). The Print MIS is supposed to capture and store the data that your business is generating and then, most importantly, give you access to this data at the right time to the right people.

A data model organizes elements of data and standardizes how they relate to one another. A Print MIS gives you the ability to configure things like “divisions, cost centers, equipment, hourly rates, commissions, etc.” The implementation of a Print MIS is really encoding your business’s data model into a software system so that when your business generates data, it gets stored in the right place with the right relationships.

This is why Print MIS implementations are so critically important. Your business data model impacts everything about your business. One way I evaluate a printer’s implementation of their Print MIS is by asking the following question:
