The graphic arts market is not generally perceived as an industry that has attractions for outsiders, and it certainly is not seen as an industry that excites people from other industries. It is therefore very reassuring to find that one of the industry’s top executives is seen to be one of the most powerful people in the world. In this case it is the list generated by Forbesmagazine of the 100 most powerful women in the world. Anne Mulcahy, the chairman and CEO of Xerox is named in this list as the world’s fifth most powerful woman.

I appreciate that some people in the printing industry don’t as yet regard Xerox as a key supplier to the industry, but the number of such people is rapidly diminishing as digital printing is seen as a core technology for the industry’s future.

It is encouraging that a magazine like Forbes is taking note of the impact of companies like Xerox. The following is the description of Mulcahy within the Forbes article, in which it is interesting to note the selection of the iGen3 digital press as a key element in the reinvigoration of Xerox.
