We love print! The resurgence of interest in printed books makes us happy. Printed newspapers going the way of the dinosaurs makes us sad, as does RIT discontinuing its print program. But how many of us think about how printing has affected history over the centuries? There’s a gem in our midst that can rectify that shortfall! In Haverhill, Massachusetts, the Museum of Printing (MoP) is that gem. Founded by its President, Frank Romano, and others, the Museum could use your help. He says, “For $130, you become a museum member and receive our award-winning newsletter.” But wait, there’s more …
The Museum is a member of the North American Reciprocal Museum Association. Your MoP card will have a gold sticker that gets you into 1,512 museums for free! Romano continues, “Your membership will help us save the history of the graphic arts and get you into many other museums for free.” And, of course, when you visit, you’ll be able to truly understand the role printing has played in human history.
Simply go to www.museumofprinting.org and click the red JOIN button. You’ll be helping us save the history of our industry while learning things about the history of print that will make you even more proud of being part of the industry!!
Open every Saturday from 10–4.
