Online Print Symposium—Restarting Online Print

European section editor Ralf Schlözer reports from the Online Print Symposium, the largest dedicated conference on online printing that took place at the end of April 2022 in Munich. The event detailed the status of online print as it emerged from the pandemic year, and the trends taking the industry into 2022 and beyond.

The Online Print Symposium is the largest dedicated conference on online printing. The ninth edition took place at the end of April 2022 in Munich. The event is organized by the consulting company Zipcon and Bundesverband Druck und Medien e.V., the German printing industry association. The focus is on German speaking countries, although the event draws an international audience as well and speakers provided insight into a wide range of markets.

After a break of two years, the Online Print Symposium returned as a live event, having had to be cancelled twice due the pandemic. Despite serving an online community, the interest in having a live event remained high. With 250 attendees, the 2022 event was smaller than previous editions, although it was fully booked owing to pandemic restrictions. At least half of the attendees were print or communication service providers, showing the avid interest among print and merchandise producers.
